So yeah. After SDCC I realized it would be a lot easier to keep track of all the people I meet by having a cosplay page to direct them to. As such, I decided to make one. It's not about fame or popularity, but keeping connected with the people I meet and having my cosplay stuff on a single page.

So, if you want to check it out, here's the link: www.facebook.com/ryogarocket I decided to go with Ryoga Rocket because, well, alliteration mostly, and it uses two of my favorite cosplays without being too connected to either. I'm still just giving it a test run to see if it's worth using, but enjoy.

So yeah, Fanime is approaching, and it shall be awesome! Yet I once again find myself with a multitude of costumes to bring. Why must I always want to be a part of everything I can?

Anyways, let's take a quick look at my cosplay plans, shall we?

Thursday (Day 0) I'll be there in an incomplete version of Legend of Korra's Pro Bending Announcer's outfit. I still need to make a few things for it, but it'll suffice for the time being.

Friday (Day 1) I'll start the day as Relius Clover from BlazBlue. Mostly for hanging out with friends, and for the Cosplay Battles at 3:30. Around 6 I'll switch into the Tenth Doctor from Doctor Who.

Saturday (Day 2) will be a pretty busy day in the afternoon. It starts with the Cosplay Battles at 10, then I've got some time before the Marvel/DC gathering at 1:00, where I'll be Doctor Nemesis. Right after that I need to change into Hunson Abadeer for the Adventure Time gathering, but I won't be blue-skinned because right after I need to change into Giovanni for the Pokemon gathering. After that I can chill as a vacation-version of Giovanni at the hotel pool (party) and enjoy the rest of the evening.

Sunday (Day 3) starts off with the Rumiko Takahashi series gathering, which I'm co-hosting as Ryoga Hibiki. Sadly, I won't be able to attend the Avatar gathering, since the two are at the same time. Oh well, next year. After that I'll have some time before I change into Hatori Sohma for the Fruits Basket gathering, then back into Giovanni for the Team Rocket gathering. At 5:00 is another Cosplay Battle, then later in the evening is the Black and White Ball.

Sunday (Day 4) is when it's time to relax... except not really, because I've got my panel then. I've just got one cosplay, Luffy from One Piece, but I'll be hosting the Abridging a Series panel at 1:00 (right when everyone is checking out).

Anyways, that's what I've got. Hope to see you guys at Fanime!

I'll also be at Big Wow ComicFest this Sunday. It's a two-day thing, but Saturday is busy for me. I'll be giving the Pro Bending Announcer a test run there, but I'm mostly excited about getting to meet Stan Lee himself!

I think I spelled that right, at least. At any rate, I've noticed that I'm nearing 5000 page views, so I figured I might as well do this kiriban thing. So here's how it works: If you're the 5000th page viewer, get a screenshot of that and show it to me. If you're the lucky winner, I'll write a short story about a topic of your choosing... to a degree of good taste. Good luck!

And of course, I was recently at Fanime. My reports are being posted on California Conventions Blog, so hopefully I'll have them all up by the end of the weekend.

I'll also be at Sac Con this Sunday, for a little while. It's mostly just to meet Billy West, but I look forward to seeing friends there as well. I'll be debuting my cosplay of Doctor Nemesis from X-Men, which'll be a fun X-Men cosplay while I'm working on Gambit and Morph.

If you've been paying any attention to my posts on Facebook lately, you'll know that my cosplay group, Blue Lotus Cosplay, recently hosted a gathering: Doctor Who's Line is it Anyway? Now that I'm recovering from the weekend, let's look at how it went.

When we picked the day for this gathering, we had no idea just how many other things would clash with it. There was the first weekend of the Cherry Blossom Festival, which many people went to, even though the cosplay parade isn't until next weekend, some fantasy thing in San Jose the day before, and the Pokemon regionals, which I missed in order to make this gathering. There were also people who are just busy on Sundays, but we had to go with a Sunday date so that one of our group members could make it. In spite of that, only five members of our group could make it, since others had things come up or just couldn't get over there. As a result, the turnout was small, as many people couldn't make it because of the location (even though we said multiple times we could pick people up from the BART station), others decided to go to one of the other events, and some just flaked without explanation. That was disappointing, but we were still thankful for everyone who did attend, and those who were there had a great time. Everyone else, you missed out.

In spite of the small turnout, the gathering itself went very well. We started off with some nerf wars while waiting for attendees to show up, culminating in a zombie survival game. Once everyone had arrived, we took some group photos, then people split to get lunch and prepare for the improv games.

When everyone had finished eating, we began the improv. We had plenty of suggestions for "Scenes From A Hat," just enough personalities suggested for "Party Quirks" and "Let's Make a Date," and just enough lines for two rounds of "Whose Line." We also did New Choice, Freeze, Two-Line Vocabulary, and finally, Regeneration, the Doctor Who-inspired game I came up with. Each of the games went well, and everyone seemed to have a great time.

When the games ended, we had some small nerf battles, then it was mostly just hanging out until everyone had to go.

The Psychic Paper hunt didn't go quite as planned; the tape I brought didn't work, so we had to fold up the paper to hide them, and some got blown away. People did seem to enjoy finding the paper about, which I decoded with my sonic screwdriver, but since the more hardcore Who fans weren't there, the clues as to the invading aliens were lost on most of them. Still, you win some and lose some.

For a first gathering, we had some rough spots, but got through them well. I wish more people had attended, and I'm a little hurt that several said they'd attend then didn't even give an explanation as to why they weren't there, but frankly, it's their loss, because the gathering was great.

Our group will be hosting more gatherings in the future. The next one will be a One Piece-themed gathering near a water park, followed by an Avatar-themed gathering with Pro Bending matches, using rules I devised. We'll also have another Doctor Who's Line gathering for everyone who missed this one, and we're deciding on some other themes.

So thank you, everyone who attended, we're glad you all had a good time.
-------------------
Now then, on to my Fanime plans. My panel has been put on the wait-list, so it's unlikely that I'll hold it again this year.

I'll still be hosting the Negima/Love Hina gathering again, which will be on Monday at 1:00. There's also the Cosplay Battles, which I don't quite have a time for yet, but will figure it out soon.

Rather than trying to fit in every gathering I can, I'm waiting to see what gatherings there are, then see what costumes I want to bring. I'll be missing a few, but at least my schedule won't be so hectic.

So far, my unofficial plans are:

Friday: Kariya Matou from Fate/Zero (if I get it done on time), the Doctor from Doctor Who (not sure which one yet, if I go to the SuperWhoLock gathering). I'll also be at the BAC gathering.

Saturday: Giovanni from Pokemon for the Team Rocket and Pokemon gatherings, the Riddler from Batman for the Marvel/DC gathering, then Aizen for the Bleach gathering (first Hueco Mundo version)

Sunday: Melon Lord for the Avatar gathering, then Ryoga from Ranma 1/2, and a formal-version of Elan from Order of the Stick for the black and white ball.

Monday: Nagi Springfield from Negima for my gathering

These plans might change depending on if there's any other gatherings I can fit in my schedule, but it's what I've got planned at the moment, and it's much less hectic than last year.

First of all, you're all invited to the first cosplay gathering from Blue Lotus Cosplay: Doctor Who's Line Is It Anyway? It'll be held in John F. Kennedy Park in Hayward on April 15th (a Sunday, since one of our members is busy on Saturdays). The group will be cosplaying from Doctor Who, but people are free to cosplay anything they want.

There'll be lots of improv games, including a Doctor Who themed game that I've come up with called "Regeneration." You'll see how it goes when you get there. We'll also have a scavenger hunt type of game where you have to find pieces of Psychic Paper hidden about and find the hidden message with the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver to figure out what alien species is invading. And of course, nerf gun battles.

This is our first gathering, so we're hoping a lot of people can make it. Please try to attend if you can: www.facebook.com/events/371438…

Aside from that, I've begun picking out my costumes for upcoming conventions. The smaller cons I'll figure out as they get closer and depending on what my friends cosplay, same for the gatherings for BAC and other events.

So for AOD, which is approaching quickly, I'll be debuting Nikaido from from Ben-To on Saturday. On Sunday, I'll be joining some friends as Hatori from Fruits Basket, and perhaps Elan from Order of the Stick later.

For Fanime, I'm aiming to have Gambit and Lancer finished by then for the Marvel/DC gathering and Type-Moon gathering, respectively. I'll be hosting the Negima/Love Hina gathering again, so Nagi of course, as well as the Cosplay Battles and my Abridged Series panel, which means Ryoga again. I'm also planning on bringing Spirit, Aizen, Melon Lord, Luffy, and the Doctor, assuming I can make it to their respective gatherings.

If anyone wants to join me in cosplaying something, or vice-versa, just let me know soon so I can work out my schedule. I always like joining people in group cosplays.

Which reminds me, at the upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival, I'll be cosplaying Gowland from Alice in the Country of Hearts, and I'm aiming to get a group together for that. Any other AitCoH cosplayers are welcome and invited to join me.

Anyways, that's all for now. I'm still battling the Woodlake, but if my credit card company doesn't take care of it, I'm dragging them to small claims court. Wish me luck, and I'll see you all at the conventions!
